Prison Throughcare Support
(Throughcare planning for release from prison)
The service will provide person centred support to rehabilitation by providing a holistic approach to advice and information, e.g. developing resilience, self-care, confidence and general well-being during the transition period from prison into the community. We will provide advice and support with budgeting/ debt management/housing and benefits. In partnership we will offer help to access other sources of community support. The service will adopt a harm reduction approach for drug and alcohol use and deliver interventions to help address offending behaviour. The service will also offer advice and information workshops /events for families who are affected. (2019 Family workshops and Event Calendar dates to follow)
Mentoring, Volunteering and Training
GCA and the ROC programme will adopt a mentoring approach to service delivery; working alongside men and women to develop support plans, identify personal goals and successfully complete any mandatory or expected engagement in services. Individuals will also be encouraged to work towards becoming a peer mentor within the service and utilise their learning and journey to help others make positive choices for the future.
Reconnecting Women’s Programme
In addition to the throughcare programme on offer, women referred to the service will be supported to engage in gender focused support, peer led diversionary activities and
personal development options where appropriate. Women can attend a 6 session health and wellbeing programme on building resilience, self-care and positive coping skills.
The service will offer 1-2-1 intense support for women at risk who present with complex needs, e.g. homelessness, addiction or domestic violence. We will give women the space, time and attention to discuss their current issues. Where appropriate we will involve other agencies and the service will allow women to guide the support and examine the most relevant help to them.
