Amanda McRae – Communities Team Leader
…”Every day is a new day. Prevention and Education work is diverse and varied”
I volunteered with GCA when I was studying psychology at university. I always had a keen interest in working within the alcohol/drugs field.
To gain some experience I began volunteering with GCA prevention and education service within the North of the city. Throughout this time I worked with different groups of people in the community and gained valuable experience and confidence. A number of years later I applied for a job with the service and the rest is history! Seven years later I am still enjoying my job.
I would encourage anyone who has an interest in volunteering with GCA to pursue this, there are lots of different services and lots of volunteering opportunities available.
