CPO – Community Payback Order

GCA provide counselling and groupwork for those who have a Community Payback Order where alcohol has been a contributory factor to the offence. The hours spent at GCA can contribute to the total service hours. Individuals are welcome to continue to use GCA’s service beyond the maximum contributory hours where this is helpful.

What is CPO?
CPO – Community Payback Order is a programme open to men and women aged 16 and over, living in the Glasgow area who are subject to a Community Payback Order where misusing alcohol is a significant factor in the offending behaviour.

How long will it take?
The number of counselling or groupwork sessions depends on the individual’s assessment, but usually consists of six sessions then a review to decide if counselling should continue or finish. Clients are welcome to continue to attend sessions after their spent time has lapsed.

There will be a one-to-one review meeting every six sessions for those who take part in counselling and a final review at the end of their engagement with the ACE programme, workshops or counselling.  The review will determine whether clients wish to remain in service, transfer to another service or end their contact with GCA.

Do I have to attend my CPO appointments?
Yes. It is part of your conditions of your agreement to attend the CPO sessions set up for you. Failure to attend these sessions can have negative repocussions on your assessment and the length of time you will remain in the CPO programme.
